Phyllis Regina Still

READFIELD -- Phyllis Regina Still, 87, died Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta.

She was born in Marlborough, Mass., on April 29, 1922, the daughter of Felix and Rosanna (Seymour) Braica.

Phyllis grew up in Marlborough, where she worked in the family restaurant, The Oxford, and graduated from Marlborough High School. After high school, she found work as a hairdresser before being employed at several manufacturing jobs over the next few years.

After her marriage to Gerald Still on Oct. 12, 1967, she worked in the Hudson High School cafeteria. In 1973, after moving to Maine, Phyllis worked in the cafeteria at Nicholson's Nursing Home for many years.

Her family and friends will always remember how much she enjoyed getting together and having a good time with people.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Gerald, in 1990; and by seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by her stepson, David Still and his wife, Linda, of West Hyannisport, Mass.; her nephew and godchild, Philip Carroll, of Marlborough; two nieces, Mary Jo Kadey, of Princeton, and Leonora West and her husband, Clarence "Westy" West, of Marlborough; and close friend Joan Ashby, of Readfield.

Relatives and friends are invited to visit from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at Knowlton & Hewins Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 1 Church St., Augusta. A celebration of her life will follow at noon in the Father LeClair Memorial Chapel at Maine Veterans' Memorial Cemetery on Civic Center Drive in Augusta.
