Theresa Arnold Obituary

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- Theresa J. Arnold, 85, formerly of Fairfield, Maine, passed away on Friday, March 6, 2009, at Homewood Residence in Florida where she had resided.

She was born in Fairfield on May 23, 1923, the daughter of the late William Gould-Doiron and Nina (Longuet) Gould. She grew up in Fairfield and graduated from Lawrence High School.

Theresa married Clyde "Jack" B. Arnold Sr. on Dec. 9, 1942, and together they shared many wonderful years until his death on May 26, 2006.

In 1959 she and her husband opened the Arnold Motel in Fairfield and later the American Motor Inn in Waterville, Maine. Theresa currently owned the property of the Butcher's Choice restaurant in Fairfield. She had a summer home in Rome, Maine.

She was predeceased by her husband; a brother, William Doiron; and a sister, Lillian Barnett.

She will be deeply missed by her devoted son, Clyde "Jack" B. Arnold Jr. and his wife, Mimi; her grandson, Clyde B. Arnold III and his wife, Randi; her great-granddaughter, Lauren Ashley Arnold, all of Coconut Creek; a brother, James Doiron and his wife, Erika, of Jacksonville; nieces, Becky Tomasevich, Ginny Muir and her husband, Richard, and Joyce Pappas and her husband, Jeffrey; and nephews, James Barnett and George Barnett and his wife, Carol.

Visiting hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, March 12, at Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, 107 Main St. in Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, March 13, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Fairfield. Spring interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Waterville.
