Valerie Nutting Murphy Tilley

AUGUSTA - Valerie Nutting Murphy Tilley, 77, of Augusta, died Sunday, Dec. 23, 2018, at MaineGeneral Medical Center, in Augusta.

She was born May 6, 1941, in Augusta, the daughter of Everett W. and Anna (McLaughlin) Nutting. She lived most of her life in Augusta and was a 1959 graduate of Cony High School. She worked at the Belle Shop, Uplift and Etonic Shoe. Valerie loved her animals dearly and enjoyed sewing. She loved to cook and was known for her apple pie. She was a big supporter of President Trump and was a New England Patriots fan.

Valerie was predeceased by her parents, Everett Nutting and Anna Folsom; her grandparents, Gladys and Everett Nutting and Annie and Albert McLaughlin.

She is survived by her sons, Frederick Michael Murphy and his wife, Tammy, of Augusta, and William Murphy and his fiancé, Stacey McIntire, of Augusta, her daughters, Valerie Lowe and her husband, Charles, of Augusta, and Stephanie Bourget and her husband, Bruce, of Augusta; her grandchildren, Shannon Murphy, of Arizona, Sean, Aaron and Breanne Murphy, of Augusta, Joshua Williams and his wife, Shanna, of Florida, Meaghan Robinson and her husband, Robbie, of South China, Justin Poirier, Derrick and Breanna Murphy, of Gardiner, Keenan Lyson, of Florida and Sadie Bourget; great-grandchildren, Laylah Leach, Kiara, Nathan, and Kevin Robinson, Brentley Poirier and Skylik Williams; her brothers, William Nutting, of Augusta, Everett (Butch) Nutting and his wife, Myra, of Florida, Dennis Nutting, of Panama, Frank (Francis) Folsom, of Augusta and Henry Folsom, of Florida, sisters, Shirley Gosselin and her husband, Carl, of Augusta and Jeanne Nicholas, of Augusta; as well as many nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday January 3, 2019, from 4 p.m to 8 p.m., at the Augusta V.F.W. Post 887, 509 Leighton Road.
