Alberta Mae Mundee, 88
SOUTH PORTLAND - Alberta Mae Mundee, 88, passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2016, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough. She was born on June 13, 1928, in Portland, the daughter of Francis J. Peavey, Sr. and Ruth A. (Libby) Peavey and graduated from South Portland High School.
Alberta was a member of the Red Hat Society, Round Squares Dancing, and a charter member of the Hiawatha Campground along with her husband Calvin. She was also a member of the First Congregational Church in Meetinghouse Hill.
She and her husband created handmade quilts for each of their children and grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, and when her husband retired they realized their lifelong dream of traveling in their motorhome. They took many motorcycle trips together on their Honda Goldwing. She also loved family cookouts and gatherings.
She is predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Calvin C. Mundee; and her son Dale C. Mundee.
Alberta is survived by her brother Francis (Sonny) Peavey and wife Isabel of Florida; her children, Diane Wildes of Cape Porpoise, David Mundee and his wife Debbie of Cumberland, Debora Rand and husband Nathan of Raymond, Donald Mundee and wife Kim of Standish; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving companion of 12 years, Vinton Lewis.
Visiting hours will be 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29 at
Hobbs Funeral Home
, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m., Friday, Sept. 30, at the funeral home. Interment will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 3, in Highland Memorial Cemetery, South Portland.
