Athena Verenis Obituary
SAUGUS, Mass. - Athena D. (Kourakos) Verenis, 78, of Saugus, Mass., died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2005 at the Harborside North Shore Nursing Home in Saugus.
Mrs. Verenis was born in Lewiston on Nov. 18, 1926, daughter of the late George Kourakos and Stella (Patsourakos) Kourakos. Mrs. Verenis grew up in Lewiston and Portland.
She was an administrative assistant for the American Oil Company, Portland, and also worked for the Raytheon Company in Wayland, Mass., and for Harvard University.
Athena is survived by a brother, William Kourakos and his wife Sophie of Cape Elizabeth. She was the aunt of Joanna Krasinski of Weston, Mass., William Kourakos, Jr. of New York City, N.Y., and Stephanie Flanagan of Farmington, and is also survived by several grand-nieces and nephews.
