Bruce Elwell Obituary
PORTLAND - Bruce E. Elwell Sr. passed away April 9, 2017, at home, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 8, 1950, in Portland, to Clement and Virginia (Harriman) Elwell.
Bruce grad-uated from Portland High School and immediately joined the U.S. Marines. He was pronounced 100% disabled by the Veterans Administration due to his service, on April 11, 1970, but continued to work various odd jobs.
Bruce married Judith Stuart on Nov. 14, 1970, in Westbrook. He was a stoic man of a few words, but became softer in his later years. He was a true outdoorsman who enjoyed camping and fishing. He also enjoyed watching cowboy movies and cartoons.
Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jimmy Elwell; and aunt, Jean Elwell.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Judie Elwell, of Portland; sons, Bruce Elwell Jr., of Portland; Clement Elwell and his wife Sarah, of Auburn; and Clinton Elwell and his wife Katie, of Westbrook; sister, Judith Stoddard, of Lincoln; his grandchildren, Noah, Gabrielle, Jackson, Joseph, and Clara; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 15, 2017, at
