Charles F. Pooler, 84
SCARBOROUGH -- Charles F. Pooler, 84, better known as 'Frank,' lifelong resident of Scarborough, passed away on March 11, 2013, at his home with his family by his side, a strong man to the end.
Frank was born at home in Scarborough on June 19, 1928, the son of Percy L. and Gladys L. Pooler. He attended the Scarborough schools and graduated in 1946.
He served in the Navy Reserves until 1950, followed by the Army until his discharge in 1956. After this, Frank worked for H.P. Hood Inc. for 35 years.
Frank was a lifelong member of the Scarborough Free Baptist Church.
He was predeceased by his parents; daughter Gail Key; brother Arthur and sister Calista DePeter. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Gertrude Carver Pooler; children, Glen W. and his wife Karen of Scarborough, Gary W. of Gorham and Crystal Merry and husband Stephen of North Waterboro; brothers, Linwood of Scarborough, George of Fort Kent, John of pon Creme, N.Y., sisters, Louise Kelly and Glenna DePeter, both of Scarborough, and Ruth Key of Parsonsfield; 10 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the Gosnell House and Home Hospice as well as all the help and support from family and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 16, at the Scarborough Free Baptist Church, 55 Mussey Rd., Scarborough, where a reception will follow.
