Darryl Duchaine Obituary

Darryl Mark
Duchaine, 50
WINDHAM -- Darryl Mark Duchaine, 50, lost his valiant battle with cancer on Tuesday, May 1, 2012, at the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House while in the loving arms of his one true love, Cheryl Skillin, his brother Darren and dear friend, Lori Farley.
Darryl was born on Jan. 21, 1962, the son of Donald and Lorraine 'Connie' Duchaine. He graduated from Westbrook High School in 1980.
As a young man, Darryl worked on towers soon realizing it wasn't for him. He then apprenticed with Wayne Tracy as a plumber where he learned both plumbing and heating skills and the satisfaction of completing a job well done. Darryl remained in the plumbing and heating trade throughout his life working for several local contractors. In the early 1990s he stuck out on his own doing service and installation of plumbing and heating equipment throughout the Greater Portland area.
Darryl's greatest joys were boating on Sebago Lake with Cheryl, hunting with his brother Darren, and fishing and camping throughout the state of Maine. Darryl also enjoyed creating and repairing things. There was very little Darryl couldn't do when he put his mind to it. He was especially proud of the heating systems he installed in his home and the oak cabinets he'd built in his previous homes. Darryl was also known for his sense of humor, his excellent camping breakfasts, tasty cookies and famous banana bread. He will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and clients who knew they could always call on him when they needed him.
Besides Cheryl, his fiance and partner of 26 years, Darryl is survived by his brother, Darren Duchaine and his partner Lori Farley of Gray, sister, Donna Brown of Porter, brother, Dwayne Duchaine of Auburn, sister, Debi Duchaine and her partner Barry Mooers of Madison; several nieces and a nephew. He was predeceased by his father, mother; and brother, Donald Duchaine.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service which will be held at Blanchard Cemetery, Winn Road, Falmouth, on Monday, May 7, at 10 a.m. A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be announced. To express online condolences please go to www.blaisandhayfuneralhome.com.
