Dennis Morin Obituary
LAGUNA BEACH, Calif. - Dennis Rene Morin, 66, son of Alfred and Annette Morin, passed away in his sleep at his home in Laguna Beach, Calif. after his battle with cancer, on Dec. 31, 2012.
Dennis was born in Saco on Feb. 25, 1946. He grew up in Saco, moving to Boston and then California, and settled in Laguna Beach where he lived for the last 18 years in his unique home which he designed and built inside of a large boulder on the beach, and which was locally dubbed: 'The Rock House'. Dennis was an avid cook who loved cooking for his friends and family, reading, learning, photography, sailing, playing guitar, politics and music. Dennis was an entrepreneur and computer software designer, and co-founded the company Wonderware in 1987, which revolutionized the manufacturing industry by introducing InTouch software, widely considered to be the first HMI software.
Dennis is survived by his two children, Deborah Woods and Christopher Estano, was brother to Ronald Morin (deceased) Michael Morin, Janet Perrault, Scott Morin and Rebecca Butler. He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Amy Woods, Ian Woods, Corey Estano, Casey Estano, Cydney Estano and Kaley Aukerman; great-grandson, Owen Woods, and fiancee', Annie Speck.
A memorial service for Dennis is being held at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Saco on Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, at 5 p.m.
