Edna Morrill Obituary

Edna May Morrill, 98
YARMOUTH -- Edna May Morrill, 98, a lifelong resident of Yarmouth died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007.
She was born on May 7, 1909, in what was then known as Grantville, the daughter of Lucinda (Knight) and William Grant. Grantville was a former fishing village that occupied the east side of the Royal River and it disappeared when Interstate 95 (now 295) was built. Edna was the last resident of Grantville.
Edna's life revolved around the sea - picking crabs, shucking clams, peeling shrimp, packing sardines or helping her son Richard with his seafood business. She enjoyed cooking, cleaning, jigsaw puzzles, her houseplants and flowers and was as sharp as a tack up to last year when a fall lead to her decline in health. She will be remembered for her sharp wit, sense of humor and generosity. Nothing gave Edna greater pleasure than being visited by members of her family.
Edna is survived by her sons, Charles Morrill and his wife Ann, Richard Morrill and his wife Gloria, and David Morrill, all of Yarmouth; 15 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her eldest son and his wife, Harry and Elizabeth Morrill; her four sisters and eight brothers.
Graveside service will be on Thursday, Aug. 23, at 10 a.m., at Riverside Cemetery in Yarmouth with the Rev. David Heald officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Lindquist Funeral Home, One Mayberry Lane, Yarmouth.

I will always have fondest memories of my childhood, growing up on East Main Street in Yarmouth. Mrs Morrill lived across the street, as well as seeing her at the Spring Street Market. A very kind and generous woman. My thoughts and deepest sympathy to David, with whom I went to school with, and to Dick and Gloria, Ann and Charles are a tribute to Mrs Morrill's love of family and friends. She is loved and will be missed.

David And Family
I wish to express my condolences to you and your family, I wish to say that she was a wonderful women. I first met her when I was 3 years old in 64, After moving in 70 to Westbrook I had not seen her until 1995 when I worked at Beans with David, at which time I was reaquainted. She remembered me still. We got to reminisce of the old days. I was amased at her dailey routine. She was a remarkable person, she will be greatly missed.
