Edward Feigenbaum Obituary

Edward C. Feigenbaum, 92
CAPE ELIZABETH - Edward C. Feigenbaum of Cape Elizabeth died Jan. 19, 2017, at the Hospice of Southern Maine, with his family by his side.
Edward was born on June 21, 1924, in Woodhaven, New York, to Rose and John Feigenbaum. He was educated in the Wethersfield schools and later graduated from the University of Connecticut.
Edward served in the Army Air Force during World War II. On Sept. 4, 1948, Ed married Audrey Towers. He was employed by Honeywell, Inc. and worked in offices in Hartford and Boston, and finally arrived in the Portland office in 1956. He held various positions at Honeywell from application engineer to construction manager.
Ed raised his family in Cape Elizabeth.
Edward was an active member of the Cape Elizabeth Lions Club for over 50 years. He loved working tirelessly on their various projects, from selling hot dogs at Cape Days to assisting in their bottle bin at the Cape landfill. Ed was the recipient of the Melvin Jones Fellowship Award from the Club, which is their highest award.
Ed and Audrey spent 20 winters in New Port Richey, Fla., where he volunteered at the hospital.
In Maine, Ed did volunteer work at the Wayside Soup Kitchen and drove for the Independent Transportation Network.
Ed had been an avid stamp collector since his childhood, and also enjoyed traveling. He and Audrey traveled to 45 states, several countries in Europe, and visited much of the Caribbean. For many years he was an ardent follower of the University of Maine baseball team, traveling all over the country to see them play. Ed had the "Feigenbaum sense of humor," which many enjoyed.
Ed was an active member of St. Bartholomew Church in Cape Elizabeth.
Ed was predeceased by his wife, Audrey, in 2012.
He is survived by their daughter, Jean Coppelman, and husband Daniel, of Eastham, Mass.; a son, Glen, and wife Mary, of Falmouth, Maine; a son, Wayne, and wife Jane, of New Castle, N.H.; two sisters: Lois Thacker, of Brunswick; and Joan O'Brien, and husband John, of Stonington, Conn.; and a brother, John, and wife Doris, of East Hartford, Conn. Ed had seven grandchildren: Jill Seaman of Dover, Mass.; Jeff (Alysia) Coppelman, of Norfolk, Mass.; Julie (Brian) O'Coin, of Falmouth; John Feigenbaum, of Portland; Amy Feigenbaum (Brandon Flood), of Paris, France; Lisa Feigenbaum, of Sacramento, Calif., and Mark Feigenbaum, of West Hartford, Con. Ed was lucky to know and enjoy his four great-grandchildren: Morgan Seaman, Nicholas and Ellie Coppelman, and Anna O'Coin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Birchwood Assisted Living and Hospice of Southern Maine for their support and care during his final years.
Family and friends are invited to a visitation at
Hobbs Funeral Home,
230 Cottage Rd., South Portland, on Monday, Jan. 23, from 4-7 p.m. There will be a celebration of Ed's life Tuesday, Jan. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Bartholomew's Church, 8 Two Lights Rd., Cape Elizabeth.

Dearest Feigenbaum Family,
I was very sorry to learn of Ed's passing but know he is now reunited with his dear Audrey. My parents (Paul "Ernie" & Rita Feigenbaum) really enjoyed their company for many years on the Florida visits. Also, Audrey & Ed were very kind & caring to my parents. What a wonderful full & well lived life Ed enjoyed! God bless & deepest sympathy, Barbara (Feigenbaum) Zerbe

Wayne and family,
So sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I had great fondness for both your parents. They were both the "finest kind"and raised a wonderful family together. Your dad's love of sports and dedication to the Lions Club was inspirational. May the strength of your family and great memories get your through this difficult time.
