Eldon Clark Hunt, 92
    NEWCASTLE -- Eldon Clark Hunt, 92, passed away on the afternoon of June 19, 2006, at Cove's Edge Nursing Home, Damariscotta.
     The son of Clarence and Lena (Clark) Hunt, he was born at home, in Newcastle, Friday, Nov. 7, 1913.
     Attending public school in Newcastle, he graduated from Lincoln Academy.
     Eldon was self-employed as a farmer and lumberman all of his life. He was raised to a Master Mason, May 17, 1935, and remained a member in good standing the rest of his life.
     The oldest member of the Alna-Anchor Lodge No. 43, he received his 50-year pin in 1985, the Alna-Anchor Cane in 1999, and his 70-year pin in 2005.
     He loved attending both the Masonic suppers and card games at the old Masonic Hall, in Damariscotta throughout the years.
     A member and second Master of the Bunker Hill Grange, Eldon earned all seven degrees during his 72 years in the grange. He was also a member of the Bunker Hill Baptist Church for over 60 years; and was a member of the Newcastle School Board; and the Newcastle Budget Committee.
     He leaves his five sons, Forrest Hunt of Damariscotta, Norman Hunt of Newcastle, Wilder Hunt of Damariscotta, Eldon Donny Hunt Jr. of Newcastle, and Raymond Hunt of Jefferson. He also leaves a sister, Hazel Smith of Jefferson; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
     Eldon was predeceased by his wife, Beryl (Hodgkins) Hunt on June 8, 2002; as well as a sister, Gladys Atkinson; and brother, Clifton Hunt.
     Friends are invited to be with the family from 5-7 p.m., Friday, June 23, at the Strong Funeral Home, 612 Main Street, Damariscotta. A service to honor Eldon will be 1 p.m., Saturday, June 24, at the Bunker Hill Church, with Pastor Rick Newell officiating. He will be laid to rest with his wife at the Weeks Cemetery, Jefferson.
