Gerard Legere Obituary
SANFORD -- Gerard J. Legere, 86, of Sanford, passed away following a long illness on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at the H.D. Goodall Hospital in Sanford.
Born in Sanford on Sept. 18, 1921, he was the son of Prosper and Dehlia (Baron) Legere.He attended St. Ignatius School in Sanford. He was also a lifelong communicant of St. Ignatius Parish. Mr. Legere served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He retired from the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He enjoyed taking his wife to Bingo. He was an avid sports fan and was a loyal fan of the Boston Red Sox. He enjoyed playing card games.
He is predeceased by two sons, Roger Legere and Donald Legere. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gabrielle (LeBlanc) Legere of Sanford. Also survived by their children, Linda Baker and her husband Gary of Sanford, Richard Legere and his wife Reina of McQueeney, Texas, Elaine Schultz of Sanford, Denise Deering and her husband Roger of East Waterboro, Sandra Payeur and her husband Michael of Sanford, Mark Legere of Sanford, James Legere and his wife Michelle of Springvale, Renee Roy and her husband Bruce of Sanford, Laura Mayo and her husband Rob of Bryan's Road, Md.; 21 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; his brothers, Leon Legere and his wife Connie, and Emile Legere and his wife Lorraine, both of Sanford.
Visiting hours for Mr. Legere will be on Friday, Nov. 23, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., in Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at St. ThŽr�se of Lisieux Parish- St. Ignatius Church in Sanford. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Cemetery. So sory to here about the passing of Gabe and Gerad.My thoughts and prays are with the entire family.They were very proud of all of you.They were always telling us stories at bingo.It was good they went together.one would have been lost without the other.They were so much fun to play bingo with.I will miss them a lot.
