Joseph Stephen Corbut
SCARBOROUGH & WESTBROOK - Joseph Stephen Corbut, a resident of Scarborough and Westbrook, for the last twenty years, recently passed away at the Barron Center in Portland.
Joe was born on Oct. 23, 1923 in Holyoke, Mass. and graduated from Holyoke High School in 1941. He married Mary Lou Demers on March 2, 1946 and went on to work in Western Mass. at Pratt and Whitney and TRW. He was incredibly proud of his work at TRW, where he was a quality control manager for twenty years.
Joe took a special interest in the Knights of Columbus and later became a Fourth Degree Knight. He also enjoyed fishing and, after retirement, dedicated himself to the art of fly fishing. Being very environmentally conscious, he became a member of the Higgins Beach Association and was actively involved in beach clean-up at least once a week during the busy summer months.
Joe was an active member of St. Maximilian Kolbe church in Scarborough.
He leaves behind a daughter, Joyce Coburn; and several nieces and nephews in Mass. and Texas. We would particularly like to thank and praise the Barron Center for their excellent end of life care for Joe. Private family services will be held at a later date.
