Dear Geoff, Ann ,Pete ,Mark and all the Lafonds
I was so fortunate to have so many good times with your dad. Fishing in Wyoming and on Martha's Vineyard and Spencer Stream as well as the skiing in Vermont were unforgettable experiences. On those days being with your dad was like getting a little bit of my own dad back. My dad never put on a pair of waders or skis in his life but Paul's wisdom ,humor (and even being particular about wearing the right clothes) brought my dad back to me at moments. It meant a great deal to me at the time and still does to this day. I am very thankful for that.
Thinking about Paul's life I realize that I am not the only one that should be thankful. For hundreds of others, in war and in peace , Paul was a leader , a hero, a powerful inspiration and, a bit of a dad. We will all miss him.

I am so saddened to hear of Paul's death. He was a wonderful man whom I loved and respected. I will miss spending time with him, listening to the adventures of his life and seeing his beautiful smile. It was a true blessing to have known this great man. Our country has lost one if it's best. No Good-byes, Paul, just I love you.

Col. LaFond was an outstanding leader and inspiring mentor to those of us in the Norwich University Corps of Cadets who were fortunate to have been there during his tenure. He was the very best of "The Greatest Generation", and I consider it an honor to have known him. God Bless Him, and may God Bless America.

I had the privilege of serving under Colonel Lafond in Vietnam. He was one of the finest officers and men I met in over 22 years in the Marine Corps. He was everything a Marine Officer should be. I will miss him.

What a great loss to all of us who had the priviledge of knowing Mr. LaFond. I work at the Animal Medical Clinic and have grown to love him and his precious dogs, most notably Mathilda. He was an incredibly brave soldier and a kind and gentle man with those he knew and loved. I am so sorry for your loss. He will be greatly missed. Holly Chapman

I had the honor of knowing the Colonel for a brief year. I met him when he lived in Cannan for short period, continued on to his house in Skowhegan. He was devoted to his dogs, a good friend and shared some to his exploits w/me. I am sorry for the loss of their father. I am honored to have known him. Rest in Peace, my friend.
