Paul John O'Neill, 80
GORHAM & NORTH READING, Mass. -- Paul John O'Neill, 80, of Gorham, formerly of North Reading, Mass., died on Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, in Portland.
He was born in Saugus, Mass., on March 13, 1930, the son of the late James and Sadie (Novak) O'Neill. Upon his graduation from High School, he became a U.S. veteran serving his country honorably in the Army.
Mr. O'Neill was a self-employed General Contractor operating O'Neill Heating and Construction in North Reading, Mass. After retiring in 1985, he passed the business over to his son. Over the course of his life, he had a love of Boston sports, woodworking, golf and the outdoors including, fishing and camping.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather.
He shared 46 years of marriage with E. Joan (Austin) O'Neill of Gorham and formerly of North Reading, Mass.
In addition to his wife, family members include a son, Stephen John O'Neill and his wife Laura of Reading, Mass., two daughters, Nancy Joan Mullin and her husband Peter of South Portland, and Carol Jean Scheuer and her husband Dean of Westlake, Ohio; three grandchildren, Ethan and Aidan Scheuer and Stephen O'Neill; a brother, Edward O'Neill of Lynnfield, Mass.; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by six siblings.
A celebration of life will be held at the Union Congregational Church, 148 Haverhill St., North Reading, Mass., on Friday, Sept. 17, 2010, at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
