SANFORD - Peter D. Faulkner Esq., 40, of Sanford, died unexpectedly at home on June 21, 2005.
He was born in Sanford on Sept. 21, 1964, a son of George A. and Elizabeth (Davis) Faulkner Jr.
He attended Alfred Elementary School, was a graduate of Deerfield, Mass., Academy, a graduate of Boston University, a graduate of the Calvin Coolidge Law School at Michigan State University, and a graduate of the University of Denver where he earned a post-graduate degree in tax law.
He operated a private law practice briefly in Wells and then for 10 years in Sanford. He was admitted to the bar in Maine and Massachusetts.
Peter had an endless desire to do community service. A big man with a heart to match, he was never afraid to step up and lead in any organization or project in which he was involved, or to lend a hand to those in need.
He was a member and past master of the Fraternal Lodge #55 AF & AM in Alfred, a member of the Scottish Rite and of the Kora Temple Shrine in Lewiston. He was a member and past president of the Sanford Kiwanis Club and a member and past Grand Exalted Ruler of the Sanford Elks Lodge. He also served on the Zoning Board of Appeals in Sanford.
Known for his wry sense of humor, Peter was also an avid golfer and skier.
Survivors include his parents of Cape Porpoise; four brothers, George A. Faulkner III and his wife Deborah of Jackson, James M. Faulkner and his wife Nancy of Cape Porpoise, Richard D. Faulkner and his wife Suzanne of Sanford, and John E. Faulkner and his wife Jane of Sanford; two sisters, Jane E. Faulkner of Cape Porpoise, and Joanne F. Houston of Sanford; 12 nieces and nephews; and two grandnephews.
A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Curtis Lake Christian Church in Sanford with Pastor Rick Leach officiating. A reception will be held immediately following the service in the multi-purpose room of the church. Ritualistic services by the Fraternal Lodge #55 AF & AM and committal services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Evergreen Cemetery in Alfred.
