Priscilla White Williams, 91
NORTH YARMOUTH - Priscilla (White) Williams, the daughter of the late Frederick Warren White and Marion Catherine (Churchill) White, died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, in the presence of family, following an arduous battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Priscilla was born on Dec. 26, 1923, in Shrewsbury, Mass., where she was an honors graduate in Shrewsbury High School's class of 1941. Upon graduation, she was employed throughout the war years as executive assistant to the president of the Massachusetts Protective Association.
In 1943, she was introduced (by her brother, Howard Bradford White) to F. Howard Williams, a flight engineer in the US Army/Air Corps, who was on leave from his assignment in the North Atlantic…it was love at first sight. Their courtship continued through daily correspondence until May 1946, when Howard returned from his post-war assignment, transporting US troops home from the Pacific. They were married in Shrewsbury on Saturday, May 4, 1946. They resided in Manchester, N.H., for the next six years, following which they moved to Dover, N.H., until 1964 when they moved to Brewer; in 1965 they moved to the greater Portland area, where they resided for the remainder of their lives (living in Portland, Scarborough, and Falmouth).
Family and friends were everything to Priscilla, especially "Will," the love of her life for 57 years, until his death in October 2003. She was the best partner, mother, homemaker, and friend anywhere…giving selflessly to all whenever called upon. Her legendary culinary prowess was enjoyed by scores throughout the years…her handwritten recipes will remain treasured memories for many. Her knitting projects have become heirlooms in the homes of all of her children and their children.
In Dover, N.H., she was a Cub Scout den mother, as well as a Blue Bird and Campfire Girls leader; in addition, she and Howard were hosts for many years of the Tandem Club in the First Parish Church, Congregational of Dover, where she was a Sunday school teacher and worked annually to support the holiday bazaar. In Portland, she was a Deaconess of the Woodfords Congregational Church, as well as a member of the Church's Nominating Committee. In later years, she and Howard were regular parishioners of the Foreside Community Church in Falmouth.
She was predeceased by her husband, Howard; her parents; her brothers Frederick W. White, Jr. and Howard B. White, her sister, Cynthia; and her son, Scott White Williams. She is survived by her daughters and their spouses, Cynthia and Allen Adams of North Yarmouth, Valerie Bartnick of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and Kimberly and James Economos of Huntington Beach, Calif., her sons and their spouses, Craig and Linda of Portland, and Stuart and Debra of Bedford, Mass., and her daughter-in-law, Robin of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. In addition, she leaves 17 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
The family are grateful to the staff on the Longfellow wing of Sedgewood Commons in Falmouth who provided compassionate care to their mother during the past several years.
A private burial service is to be held in the Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at 1 p.m., in A.T. Hutchins Funeral & Cremation Services, 660 Brighton Ave., Portland. To offer condolences and share memories with the family please go to

Dearest Nanna,
You were a gift, my Nanna was the sweet, consoling matriarch who took such care of everyone under her roof and it extended to those in her church, her workplace and the world outside her door.
I will always remember a bowl of delectable candies handed out to all of us grandchildren and how loved we felt by our Nanna and her husband Howard, my Buppa. I will never forget you and the pool, swimming and picnics in the screened porch, the chowder- oh the chowder!!! All of the hospitality, sweet ice cream from the freezer...so fond, so much love!
I miss you both and wish all of your children, grandchildren (my cousins), great grandchildren, friends and others who adored you the very best...warm wishes and love from Florida.
My family wishes you a restful and peaceful trip to be with your heavenly family.
In Loving Remembrance...
Seth H. Williams and family

I'm sorry to read about Aunt Cilla's passing. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers as you navigate this time of loss and change in your lives.
I have many fond memories of our families together throughout the years,and more recently the cherished notes of encouragement and gratitude she sent while I cared for her brother (my dad) in his waning years. I owe her a genuine debt of gratitude for the curiosity she had about our family's descendants as it led me to discover that those ancestors go back to the Mayflower.
Deb and Cheryl and I send you peace and affection Cyndy, Craig, Val, Stu, and Kim.

Safely Home
by Unknown
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
There is perfect joy and beauty
In this everlasting light.
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still;
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth--
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
I am so happy for your mom is free. She got to have her last day close to the ones she loved well done Cindy and Al.

To all the Williams family my sincerest sympathy.
When I remember Priscilla in our Porteous days I can still hear the laughter of a remark she made that only a few heard but was so appropriate for the situation. I want to remember those moments, the smile, laugh,
Wonderful picnics caring words.
