My husband Frederick Ferber or Foof as he was named by one of his brothers at the sigma nu. Sadly Fred passed away 2020. He is now with Bob and so many of his Sigma Nu brothers. Bob so generously offered us his home for our wedding reception in 1998 following the ceremony at the Bowdoin Chapel where Bob sang a lovely song (Through the years) I will always cherish that memory of Bob and the totem pole he carved for us . Hope the two of you will have reunited wherever you are now. Thanks again

I tried to send a message Monday but I didn't see it here.I had so many good memories of Bob and family since I was a little kid up visiting my grandparents in Cundys. As a matter of fact, the last time I saw my grandparents house was sailing down the New Meadows with Bob (and dog).He was one of a kind. All my love from me and my family, Geoff Croft

Upon hearing of Bob's passing a flood of youthful memories of him, Peggy and the family immediately came to mind. Back in 1977 & 78 Bob hired me and two other to perform a musical review for guests at the Stowe House. Our friendship grew and I returned many summers. He and Peggy always managed to find a place for me to stay and when summer was over gave me a fall job in the restaurant waiting tables before returning to NYC. He introduced me to Cundy's Harbor where Marty and I house-sat one season when his dear mother Mary resided in town for the winter. I owe him and Peggy a great amount of thanks for their kindness and support during that time. In this life the people we meet and the places we go can and do have great impact on our lives. The Mathew's family did that for me. My prayers are with him and his family.

To Peggy and family - Sally and I were extremely sorry to learn this week of Bob's passing last month. As your across the street neighbor when you owned and lived in the Stowe House on Federal Street in Brunswick, we felt quite close to the Mathew's family for many years. And with Bob's delightful mom, Mary, who Sally took on a 17 day cruise aboard the Rotterdam V, which was her heart's earnest desire to do since she saw it being built in 1957 in Holland. Bob also worked hard on her Cundy Harbor home to spruce it up. His wide variety of interests and activities were spectacular. We send our heartfelt condolences to you and the family with hopes that we remain in contact.
Sincerely, Chuck and Sally Mull, Brunswick

I met Bob in the Fall of 1952, our first day at Bowdoin College; we both joined Sigma Nu fraternity and have been very close friends ever since. Knowing Bob was quite an experience, as he was always involved in some project.
Bob was a very generous guy and loved a good laugh. He hosted our 1956 class reunions at Cundy's Harbor with the help of his wife, Peggy, and his Mom, Mary, for several years. As proprietor of the Harriet Beecher Stowe house, he and Peg brought new spirit to this famous inn, and Bob also enjoyed hosting various bus trips for the leaf peepers, etc, and with Bob at the mic, they had to be a riot.
My wife, sandy, and I enjoyed playing bridge with them over the past several years, and have many fond memories of the fun times we had together.
Bobby, my great friend and brother will be missed by all that knew him and we send our deepest sympathy to his wife, Peg, and their wonderful kids and families.
God speed, Robert, you are very much loved by all and we think of you often.
