Shauna Nyby Obituary

Shauna M. Nyby, 56
PARSONSFIELD -- Shauna M. Nyby, 56, of Parsonsfield, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Southern Maine Medical Center, Biddeford, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Dec. 7, 1953, in Long Beach, Calif., the daughter of James and Barbara (McGhue) McCurnin. She attended Anaheim, Calif. schools. On Nov. 13, 1976, she married Robert W. Nyby Jr. in Seal Beach, Calif. They relocated to Maine in 1984.
Though Shauna held a few small part-time jobs, she was always a devoted homemaker. She prided herself for not only caring and raising her children, but also for doing her part of the household chores such as hauling firewood.
Shauna enjoyed spending time in her organic and flower gardens, and, being an animal lover, enjoyed caring for her donkeys dogs. She was also an avid reader who enjoyed perusing any kind of book about history.
She was predeceased by one brother. Surviving are her husband of more than 33 years, Robert W. Nyby Jr. of Parsonsfield; two sons, Jason M. Nyby of Wells, Justin R. Nyby and his wife Jessica of Mount Pleasant, S.C.; two sisters, Cyndy Deir of Anaheim, Calif., Timaree Purcha and her husband Brian of Anaheim, Calif.; a grandchild on the way; and several nieces and nephews.
At Shauna's request, there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 7, 2010, at 11 a.m., at Maplewood Cemetery, Parsonsfield. Arrangements by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm St., Biddeford.
