SANFORD - Therese M. Desrochers, 83, a lifelong resident of Sanford, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at the Southern Maine Healthcare Center in Sanford.
She was born in Sanford on Feb. 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Georgiana (Johnson) Boisvert. Therese attended St. Ignatius School and began working in the Goodall Mills at an early age. She married Roger Desrochers on Oct. 27, 1951, and together they raised three children.
She was a devoted communicant of St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, St. Ignatius Church. She became affectionately known by the children of St. Ignatius and St. Thomas schools as one of the "lunch ladies". Therese will lovingly be remembered for her unconditional love and support for her many friends and family members.
She was predeceased by her husband Roger who passed away in 2004; and by nine of her siblings, Rolande, Jeanne, Juliette, Rene, Gerard, Elaine, Annette, Roger, and Richard. She is survived by one sister, Doris Gerfy and her husband, John of Wenatchee, Wash.; her children, Susan Cote and her husband, Ernie of Shapleigh, Daniel Desrochers of Portsmouth, N.H., Ann Lapierre and her husband James of Sanford; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be on Friday from 4-7 p.m. at the Lafrance-Lambert & Black Funeral Home, 29 Winter St., Sanford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Therese of Lisieux Parish, Holy Family Church. Burial will be in the spring at St. Ignatius Cemetery in Sanford.
