Thomas Mackay Obituary

Thomas R. MacKay, 50
     SANFORD -- Thomas R. MacKay, 50, of Sanford, passed away at his home on Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2006. He was born in Sanford on April 27, 1956, a son of Thomas F. and Tirzah B. (Beattie) MacKay.
     He attended local Sanford schools, graduating from Sanford High School Class of 1974. During these years he played football, baseball and basketball. During his Junior and Senior years he served as co-captain of the football and baseball teams. His love and involvement in sports continued throughout the remainder of his life. This passion was instilled and passed on to his daughter and son, Sarah and Alan. Throughout their school years he was very active in coaching, mentoring, and supporting their athletic events and programs. Most recently he enjoyed playing golf.
     On July 29, 1978, he married Diane L. Daigle at Holy Family Catholic Church in Sanford. For the past nine years he had been working as a Bread Vendor for Interstate Bakeries.
     He is predeceased by his father, Thomas F. MacKay.
     He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Diane L. MacKay of Sanford; one daughter, Sarah Mackay of Sanford; one son, Alan MacKay of Sanford; his mother, Tirzah B. MacKay of Sanford; one sister, Sharon LaRose and her husband Dale of Sanford; father and mother-in-law, James and Doris Daigle; sister-in-law, Donna Cyr; nieces, Brenda B. Heald of Saranac, N.Y. and Mary Cyr of Somersworth, N.H.; nephews, David B. LaRose of Gig Harbor, Wash., and Kylie Cyr of Somersworth, N.H.
     Visiting hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 17, from 6-8 p.m. at the Carll-Heald & Black Funeral Home, 580 Main Street in Springvale. A funeral service will be held on Monday, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.
     In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions may be made in his memory to:

It was nice to walk into Central Furniture every day and Tom was always in a good mood,laughing and clowning around!He was also one of the only honest sales personal they ever had. I missed him when he defected to Wonder bread!I am very sorry for your loss!
