Dear Palmer Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. My parents Dr George R Walker and Wanda Walker were great friends with your parents. I can remember on Sat nights they would go out to dinner. Your father would be on call for my father and visa versa. I had not seen your parents since I was little but about 10 years ago I ran into them and reminded them who I was We must have talked for an hour or so catching up. Again
I am very sorry for your loss,
My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Tom, Bindy, and family:

I didn't read of your father's passing until after the funeral.

He will always be remembered by me as a perfect doctor, the kind that is difficult to find today. He always had time to make his patients feel comforted no matter how busy he was. He was always a gentleman.

Bangor will likely never see another like him. The whole state will miss him.

My prayers and condolences.

To Tom's Family,
Tom was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. As a neighbor he went out of his way to welcome us to the neighborhood and made our family feel at ease as we settled in. His smile, caring attitude, friendship and his beautiful flowers that we enjoyed each day when we were neighbors will be greatly missed.

I was so saddened to hear about your dad’s passing. He and your mom played such an important role in my parents’ (Bev and Ed) lives through rousing good times as well as difficult times. Your dad’s faithful, gentle support during my mother’s cancer meant a great deal to our family. His life made the world a better place. Please know you’re all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dr Palmer was the perfect example of the old time gentlemanly doctor. I worked with him in the early 70s at EMMC and again later in the late 80s. I was one of the hundreds of nurses he worked with over the years, but he never forgot my name and always had the time to chat. I never saw him upset with the people who worked with him or his paitients. He was kind, giving and patient with everybody. He was a joy to work with and a pleasure to know.
It's so sad to see him go.

To the Palmer children:
So sorry for the loss of your dad. Anne, I never had the pleasure of meeting your dad, however, after getting to know you when you were a nurse at the Milford school, it is apparent that he passed on his legacy of treating people with compassion to you.

I knew Dr. Tom and Mary Ellen from the time I was a teenager and babysat Tommy & Eddie. Both Dr. Tom and Mary Ellen were some of the kindest people I ever knew during those years. How fortunate I feel to have been able to reconnect with him these past six months since returning to Maine. We sat and talked about those long ago years, the stories in his book, Cracked Marbles, and perspectives people gain through personal growth. I'll always see him as one of the kindest, most gentle gentlemen I've been blessed to know.

As difficult as his loss is for his family, know he treasured each of you while speaking so lovingly of memories and times you spent together. For all of his accomplishments, and there were many, his family and friends were his greatest joys.

Dr. Palmer was one of the best. His smile always made my day when I was lucky enough to see him at St. Joes or EMMC. His caring ways helped many patients through trying times. His was a healer's touch, his skills as an excellent surgeon, combined with a holistic approach to medicine provided his many patients with the very best medicine can offer. He gave wholeheartedly to his community with his time, wise counsel and skills.
Annie and family - the Houston family sends our gratitude for your Dad's life and prayers for you all. May the many wonderful memories you will always carry in your hearts bring you comfort and peace now.

Dr. Palmer was one of a kind. None came anymore compassionate than he. I remember being very young and needing very invasive life changing surgery. He stayed with me when I came out of recovery for however long it took to talk to me and to make sure that I totally understood what took place, what my recovery would be and that he was available at all hours should I have any questions or fears. He was the first and only doctor that I have ever trusted completely. He took the time to comfort and ease all of my fears. He was a role model in the medical field that not many can match. I appreciated that he was my doctor at that time and will never forget how he made me feel so safe and that everything would be alright in the end. The world was truly blessed to have him as one of their own in the medical field. My prayers are with the family at this time knowing that now he is also in a safe and comforting place.
