She was my sister, cheerleader, guardian, fill-in mother, promoter and childhood chaperone. She leaves behind many, many happy, cherised memories of family life together and I will never forget her and her caring, selfless nature.

I share my sister, Diana Romano Flaherty's sentiments. I recall my Aunt Viola as a beautiful person with a caring, compassionate & gentle nature. What a God given match was her marriage with my Uncle Alfred, my father's almost twin looking brother, as they were so alike in characteristics! I'm sure their offspring are a reflection of this.

As I have been away from Maine some 50 years, reading now that Aunt Viola was involved founding the Italian Heritage Center, employed by Lady Grace & a member of Sacred Heart Sodality, it substantiates my recollection of Aunt Viola's willingness to always be of assistance. In my heart & mind always will be the family gatherings of some 25-30 of us at Kettle Cove at Crescent Beach where it was Pot Luck dining, with homemade wine & the conversation in the Italian language. I travel to Italy almost annually to visit areas of my family's roots & urge her family to visit the Abruzzo region, Aunt Viola's birthplace, one of awesome natural beauty with spectacular parks & they will get goosebumps knowing their Mother, Grandmother & Aunt was born in this magical place.

My most sincere condolences to the family. God has decided to take Viola Romano until we all meet again but while we are still on earth, she will always remain in the memories & hearts of her family and friends.

To the family
I am sorry for your loss. Joe has shared a few stories, but I am certain there are many more. Cherish them and carry them on forever.

I remember my Aunt Viola with much fondness and from my early childhood, I can recall my late mother, Elizabeth Romano, always speaking affectionately about her sister-in-law, Viola. Because my mother and Viola had married brothers, Alfred and Adam, my mother felt a very special bond and friendship with Viola.

To all my cousins, please accept Shaun's and my deepest sympathy on the loss of your lovely mother.
