Betty Barr Sherwin

Betty Barr Sherwin, age 85, died December 12, 2012 at Fawcett Memorial Hospital in Port Charlotte, FL. She is predeceased by her husband Robert Perkins Sherwin. She is survived by sons Sydney Thayer IV and Meade Barr Thayer and daughter Casey Sherwin Hamblett and her 5 grandchildren (Sam and Brooke Thayer and Rob, Blake and Mac Hamblett), all who adored her. Mrs. Sherwin was born on October 18, 1927 to Meade L. Barr and Katherine Barr and raised in Haverford, Pennsylvania. She attended Shipley School and graduated from Miss Porter's School in Farmington, Connecticut. Mrs. Sherwin, a resident at Beaumont, was long committed to her work at the Community Clothing Charity in Philadelphia and its annual clothing drive. She was a former member of the Merion Cricket Club and Gulph Mills Golf Club. Mrs. Sherwin also spent time in Boca Grande, Florida, where she was a member of the Gasparilla Inn & Club. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday December 20, 11 AM in The Church of the Redeemer, corner of Pennswood and New Gulph Rds., Bryn Mawr, PA. The burial will take place in the Churchyard, followed by a reception at the Gulph Mills Golf Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to either the HMS School for Children with Cerebral Palsy in Philadelphia or the Main Line Animal Rescue in Malvern.
