Elizabeth McManus Obituary
Born in Philadelphia on Feb. 22, 1919, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late Mr. James P and Mary (Harding) Considine. She attended High School at St. Leonard's Academy in Philadelphia and went on to do her undergraduate work at Rosemont College. From there, she attended both the University of Pennsylvania and St. Joseph's College for her graduate degrees.
Mrs. McManus worked at St. Joseph's college in the office of graduate studies, helping many young adults achieve scholarships for graduate school. She also worked as a feature writer for the history page of the Mainline Times for over 20 years. She was also an avid Pro-Life activist.
She was predeceased by her husband, the late Captain William H. McManus, USN and two of her children, the late William H. McManus, Jr. (Jean) and the late Albert E. McManus (Catherine). She is survived by six children; James P. McManus, Rory McManus (Mary Ann C.), Jessica Andraka (Richard), Elizabeth Cardone (Dominic), Sheila McManus and Robert J. H. McManus, 24 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass, Thursday, April 22, 2010, 10 a.m. at St. Matthias Church, 128 Bryn Mawr Avenue, Bala Cynwyd, Pa., where friends may call in Church from 9-10 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations, in her memory, can be made to The Delaware County Pro-Life Coalition, 1127 West Chester Pike, Havertown, PA 19083.

Betty was such a vibrant, interesting and wonderful person. She would make cookies for our children when we lived next door. She was always ready w/ a smile. She loved her extended family very much and enjoyed writing about them in her annual family update letters. Though we are sad to learn of her passing, we're glad to know that she is enjoying her reunion w/ family in heaven.

What a spectacular woman. She has been an inspiration to so many for so long and will go on being an beautiful inspiration. I feel very fortunate to have met Betty. She has an express ticket to Heaven. May we all be so fortunate. God has truly blessed us with her for 91 years.
