Jane MacFarland Obituary

Jane Diverty MacFarland age 89, died peacefully Thursday January 10, 2013 at Crosslands, a community in Kennett Square after a life of dedicated service to family and so many others. Before moving to Crosslands 25 years ago, Mrs. MacFarland had been a long time resident of Villanova. She was born in Woodbury, NJ and was a graduate of Mary Lyon Junior College. As a volunteer for the American Red Cross, she served in many different capacities culminating in being a board member for the Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter. She had a wide variety of interests ranging from singing in her church choir and Crosslands chorus to canoeing, cooking, her dogs and handicrafts. Mrs. MacFarland is survived by a daughter, Deborah Jane Vogel of Devon, PA and a son, Randolph Marshall MacFarland of Parker, CO. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Karen, a son-in-law, Lee and five grandchildren and three great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Donald and son, Arthur. A graveside service at Chestnut Grove cemetery in Elmer, NJ was private. A memorial service and reception will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday January 15, 2013 at Crosslands, 1616 E. Street Road (Rt. 926) Kennett Square, PA 19348. Memorial donations in her memory may be made to the American Red Cross PO Box 4002018 Des Moines, IA 50340-2018, the Shehawken United Methodist Church 3 Scott Center Rd. Starrucca, PA 18462 or to Westminster Presbyterian Church 10 West Pleasant Grove Road, West Chester, PA 19382.
