Margaret “Peggy” Morrison Binns was born in Richmond, Va. in 1926 and passed away on July 18, 2021 in Midlothian, Va. She was the daughter of the late R. Barner Morrison and Margaret T. Morrison. Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Gardiner B. Binns Jr.; her son, Kenneth G. Binns; and her son-in-law, James A. Lohr. She is survived by her daughter, Kathy B. Lohr of Midlothian; and cousins, Barbara Westmoreland of Rochester, Minn. and Cynnie Westmoreland of Palmyra, Va. Peggy was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and VCU, where she studied art. She subsequently studied with Ed Whitney in Maine, Carolyn Wyeth and Domenic DiStefano in Pennsylvania. Her paintings have been exhibited in many venues, including the Valentine Museum in Richmond, The Salmagundie Club in New York City, The Berman Museum and The Brandywine Museum in Pennsylvania. She was a signature member of the Philadelphia Water Color Club and Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, a member of the American Watercolor Society, Art League of Delaware County, a charter member of the National Museum of Women in the Arts and was a teacher and mentor to many students throughout the years. Peggy was also a member of the P.E.O. Chapter M of Bryn Mawr, a philanthropic educational organization. She attended Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church and was a member of Huguenot Road Baptist Church. Our sincerest thanks go to Melodie, Theresa, Bonnie, Cheena, Denise and Shanta for the exceptional loving and compassionate care. There will be a service at Westhampton Memorial Park in the Mausoleum Chapel on Wednesday, July 28, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be 30 minutes prior to the service. Donations in her memory may be made to the Easttown Library Foundation, 720 First Avenue, Berwyn, Pa. 19312. Bennett Funeral Home is serving the family.
