Matt was my roommate and teammate in College. He was a GREAT MAN. I was unaware of his situation and I'm sorry I wasn't there for him and his family. I will see him again in HEAVEN/ETERNAL LIFE. GOD BLESS MATT AND HIS GREAT FAMILY.

Saddened beyond measure by the news I received this morning. I worked alongside Matt (Matty) at Marcus & Millichap and we have been friends ever since. Thinking of Atticus right now and how he must be missing the person, who loved him more than anything else in the world. Rest in eternal peace Matty.....

I just read the news. I knew you when working at Marcun Millichap. You were always kind to me. Thank you. May you rest in peace.

Absolutely devastated to hear this tragic news. Matt was a hero, role model and inspiration to me. Ever since we connected at the beginning of my fitness journey way back in 2010, Matt was more than just my personal trainer, he was a close friend and like family to me. We shared the same taste in music (from Pearl Jam to Led Zeppelin to Rush), we bonded over many of the same interests and tastes. He was such a good dad to Atticus. Keeping Matt´s family and Atticus in my thoughts as Matt always asked for thoughts instead of prayers. Gone way too soon and the world will never be the same without him. I know how much pain you had to endure, so I will say it is an ease of mind knowing that you are not suffering anymore. I will always be thinking about you and your legacy and impact on me very one around you will last forever. You are missed dearly Matt.

Matt was in homeroom with me in high school. While we didn't socialize outside of school - as he was an athlete and I most certainly was not - he was always very nice to me. In fact, I remember very clearly when I asked him to explain to me what the numbers were before hearing the word "hike" in football, he had a witty retort (which I won't share on this page!) In later years, we reconnected on Facebook and he was always very kind and caring. I hope he rests in peace.

To Steve and Irene: I´m remembering the words you said to Tom. And so it is with Matt. "A thousand angels are lifting you up." My love to you both.

My deepest sympathies. My heart goes out to you. I did not know him, nor you, but losing our loved ones is an awful heartache to endure. Hugs & prayers to all whom known him. Wish I had the honor.

I coached Matt at the University of Richmond . He was a fine young man and a fine football player. We had been in touch the last couple of years . RIP Duke
