Richard Scott
If an obituary could be sung, our father, Richard A Scott (Scotty), would have preferred a tune in his honor. The chorus would sing of love of family, love of life, love of country. Scotty was the father to 9 children; Stacie, Richard, Binh, Matt, Christine (Beard), Ruth (Portonova), Joan, Suzanne (Plambeck) and Sondra. We will miss his sweet voice that touched his 9 children, their spouses, 25 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren deeply. Born in Brockton, Massachusetts, he and his wife of over 65 years, Sondra Speer Scott, made their life in the Villanova area. They met at Bates College where he played football, baseball and basketball. He was proud of his service in the Navy. He was a leader of many but a friend to more; his team from Miller Mason & Dickenson will attest. He loved his big, loud, loving family but was known to enjoy an escape to Aronimink or Pine Valley for a round or a long whistle-a-song walk in Maine or Sktytop. He was such a presence in our lives and he will be profoundly missed. The family will be celebrating his life at St. Monica Church at 63 Main Avenue in Berwyn on Friday, December 20th. The family will be receiving friends at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:15 AM and the service will begin at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to Marfan Foundation in memory of Richard scott at marfan.org/donate.

My sympathy to all of the Scotts. I remember Aunt Ruth and Uncle Scotty and Jack and Dick so well from my childhood. We spent every Christmas and Thanksgiving with them in Rockland or in East Douglas. It was always fun.

And Ruth always stayed with us in Onset for a week or two. She was such good company and had a wonderful laugh and sense of humor. My mother adored her.

Will miss you Dick. One of my most favorite relatives for over 75 years, the best athlete in the history of Bates College, and the paradigm for a loving father.

As a friend of Joans at Villanova, and far from my own Chicago-based family, the Scotts continuously welcomed me into their warm and wonderful home. I felt so lucky then; as I do today, to know and love this incredible family. Will sorely miss its Patriarch.

The Donnelly Family extends their sympathy and prayers to the Scott Family. All 12 Donnellys who worked at MM&D over the years were so happy to have had the opportunity to know Mr. Scott. We loved hearing him come whistling through the office, and enjoyed it when he'd stop and talk with us. He knew all our names, and the names of every one of the employees who worked for him, even as the company grew. He was a wonderful man, and he'll truly be missed.

I remember that Dick understood and saw the value in people of a wide variety of characters and persuasions - even me, when I was a brash, shaggy-haired new actuary back in 1976.

Although I've only met him one or two times,I feel like I know him through Stacie as she sang his songs and told me stories about him regularly. His family is such a,loving and caring one all taking time to care for this larger than life person. When people, talk about families being most important, this family is the definition of family. We should all be this lucky

Before I believed in myself, Dick gave me a chance and mentored me for the first 10 years of my professional life. He was a great role model, teaching me that one can be successful In business and in life by being honest, caring, selfless, and hard working. He was a man of faith, love, laughter and joy...he was the best!
