I recently visited Abe Wolf and we enjoyed sharing memories of Wally and the "old gang" at ARBOR/ Associates for Research in Behavior, circa 1965-1975.

Remembering Wally fondly, for his good humor, sense of fair-play, and willingness to mentor a 20 year-old new college grad at a time when young women were not always given equal opportunities. Thanks Wally, and the staff of ARBOR Inc.

Wally was one of a rare breed who believed passionately in what he was doing. A finer human being I have never met. Although I had not seen him in almost three decades, I posess an undying respect and fondness for him.

Wally,
I will miss you at the family gatherings. You were always an inspiration to learn more, to smile and laugh and take it all in stride. Your great sense of humor and positive energy made you one of the nicest, fun people to be around. You were a bank of knowledge and were always sure to ask how everyone was doing and what they were up to in life and career. I am glad I knew you. My deepest sympathy to family and to remember the funny stories as he would like. Love Ronja

I had the privilege of being an employee of ARBOR in its early days, beginning in 1965. The company was like a family, with Wally as the "Dad". Since this was my first post-college job, I had a tremendous amount to learn about being a professional in the workplace, and Wally and the other experienced staff members, particularly Abe Wolf, were caring mentors. One story that says a lot about Wally: he had a goldfish he tried to train using operant conditioning, one of the major theories/methods we used to study advertising at ARBOR. Always the inquisitive scientist, Wally believed strongly in the experimental method, and in collecting data no matter how tedious the work!
If I had the opportunity right now, I'd give Wally a hug and wish him joy, laughter and the opportunity to keep on experimenting through the next stage...

He made a great place for students to learn. My girls loved school. Achievement House helped make their education great. He made the school great by having great teachers that cared and to this day are friends with my girls. Thank you for all you have done, for all people in your life time. I know you are with God and your loved ones that went before you. Your family should be so proud of you and your accomplishments .

Wally was one of the kindest, most understanding and supportive persons you'd ever meet. He was driven, intelligent and always wanted to make this world a better place, and he did. I enjoyed my time working with him starting Achievement House Charter School. He was a wonderful CEO, and an even better friend. Rest in peace my friend Wally, you are loved and missed.

Thank you Wally for taking a chance on this new teacher in your dream of school choice and opportunities for our students. Never forget the picture I had of the man interviewing me in the phone, yelling at someone to get out of his parking space, and the grandfatherly figure I met for the first time. You always had the right intensions in your heart for those around you. RIP

So sad to hear. I enjoyed working with Wally at Achievement House. The world is a lesser place without him.

Wally was a gentleman, scholar and dreamer. He was always ahead of the time in his chosen field of online education and frustrated by the inadequacies of the technology. Wally was a pleasure to work for and with at Achievement House, Bryn Mawr. My blessings go to his family and friends.
