Bill Scrimshire Obituary
Billy Joe was born January 16, 1938, to Perry and Lucille Scrimshire in Dyess, the oldest of three brothers. The family would soon relocate to Malvern, where Bill, Ed and Jim were raised. He was a 1956 graduate of Malvern High School and a 1960 graduate of Ouachita College (now Ouachita Baptist University).
Following college Bill had a brief career as a biology teacher and football coach at Arkadelphia and Poyen schools before operating a Tastee Freeze in Malvern for over 20 years. His career then shifted to public service. He served as Mayor of Malvern from 1981-1999, then was elected to the Arkansas House of Representatives from 1999-2004. He finished his career in public service as Hot Spring County Judge, a position he held from 2005 until his retirement in 2016.
He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church - Malvern.
Bill was preceded in death by a son, Brent W.P. Scrimshire.
Survivors are wife of 45 years, Ann Scrimshire; two daughters, Ronda (Rick) Hodges, of Social Hill, and Natalie (Joe Phelps) Scrimshire, of Arkadelphia; daughter-in-law, Rachel Scrimshire, of Malvern; and three grandchildren, Rowan Phelps, Wyatt and Riverlyn Scrimshire.
A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church, Malvern AR on Saturday, September 14 at 2:00 PM. All are welcome.

My sincere condolences to the Scrimshire family. I remember Bill from the time he ran the Tastee Freeze through his public jobs. Bill always told me I was doing a good job umpiring Little League baseball games. Bill said his job and my job didn´t get a lot of compliments...so we had to support each other!
