Ima Jean James

Ima Jean James, age 84, of Glen Rose, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026 at Heartland Rehab & Care Center after a long and difficult battle with Altzheimers. She was born August 20, 1941 in Huttig, Arkansas to Mildred and Audrey Laster who preceded her in death. Ima is also preceded in death by a beloved grandson, Ryan Martin James and two brothers, Jack Laster and Robert Fenner.
She worked many years at Arkansas State Hospital doing neurological testing. Ima was an avid reader, loved to crochet, rode her bicycle til the age of 80, and was a friend to all. She was a member of Reyburn Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Ima is leaves behind her husband of 66 years, Phillip James; her cherished son, Robert James (Paige); granddaughter, Ashton Ritchie (Kyle); four beautiful great-grandchildren, Rylee, Kade, Reed, and Ruby Jo; a sister who loved her dearly, Elizabeth Mullins (Joe); and several nieces & nephews. She will live forever in our hearts.
Visitation will be 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 29 at Ashby Funeral Home with services beginning at 11:00 a.m. Bro. Todd Bray will be officiating.
