Peter Casenhiser Obituary

Peter and his wife, Margaret, retired to the Boyce family home in 2004. Peter was born March 10, 1945 to the late Mary (Donnelly) and Edwin Oscar Casenhiser in Detroit, Michigan. He was predeceased by his sister Mary (Casenhiser) Schrader and brother Edwin Owen Casenhiser. Peter is survived by his wife of 55 years, Margaret (Boyce) Casenhiser, sister-in-law Patricia (Boyce) Casenhiser, brothers-in-law John and Barbara Boyce, William and Maggie Boyce, and Daniel and Dawn Boyce. He also leaves many nieces and nephews along with his beloved dog, Oscar. He will be missed for his kindness, loving nurturing nature and great listening skills. Peter was an automotive cost savings engineer whose clients include Ford, GM, Chrysler and several foreign car manufacturers. Upon retiring, Peter and Margaret moved to Vermont where he enrolled at Green Mountain College to study environmental and solar engineering. He became a trustee of the Rupert Kittay Library where he initiated "Travels With Bill", a project to encourage awareness of the role that small libraries played in Vermont communities. He sent a one dollar bill that traveled from one Vermont county library to another county library. The libraries provided the history of their library, activities they sponsored and pictures of "Bill" interacting at their library. Peter used the information provided to write a limited printing of the book, "Travels With Bill". The book told the story of the Vermont libraries. It was so popular that he expanded the project to all 50 of the states. The website: Travelswithbill.net can be viewed on-line. Peter was truly a creative, thoughtful person who will be greatly missed.
