SHIPSHEWANA - Truman L. Miller, 101, of Shipshewana, Indiana, passed away peacefully at 11:05 p.m., on Monday, Feb. 10, 2025, at Parkview Hospital, LaGrange.
He was born on Aug. 20, 1923, in LaGrange County, Indiana, to John S. and Delcie (Miller) Miller.
On June 5, 1943, in Shipshewana, he married Joyce I. Troyer; she survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two daughters, Janice (Ronald) Cline, of LaGrange and Dianne O'Guin, of LaGrange; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vera Bontrager, of Shipshewana and Ruby Weaver, of New Bern, North Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Tara Johnson; two sisters, Beulah Neff and Bernice Yoder; and five brothers, Ernest, Payson, Howard, Orva, and Mervin Miller.
Truman was a U.S. Navy veteran and served during WWII.
After his time in the service, he became the owner/operator of Miller Construction, focusing on residential and commercial buildings for 50 years. He built, and was a project manager for many area homes, churches, banks, and other commercial buildings.
He volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, assisting with building projects in the area and abroad in South America.
In his free time, Truman enjoyed woodworking, restoring old tractors, and especially flying his airplane with his wife, Joyce.
Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m., on Friday, Feb. 21, 2025, at Shore Church, 7235 W. 100N, Shipshewana.
A private burial service will be held prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Saturday, Feb. 22, 2025, at Shore Church.
Services will be conducted by Pastor Nic Raber.
Burial will be in Shore Cemetery, Shipshewana.
Memorials may be given to Habitat for Humanity.
