MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- Colin Michael Brougham, 39, of Minneapolis and formerly of Northern Michigan, died doing what he loved on April 10, 2018, riding his bike, a new steel-framed steed he affectionately called "Chubs."
While he wasn't the standout athlete in high school, nor was he voted most popular, he made up for it with his funny, smart and easy-going personality. He was often mistaken for Dave Grohl of the band Foo Fighters, and some of you reading this may have even asked to have your photo taken with him because of the uncanny resemblance.
Colin's family knew him as the hard-working, tender soul that put everyone else before himself. A video software guy for Adobe Systems by day, Colin was known for telling long, drawn-out stories, his witty comebacks and making those around him feel like they were the most important person in the room.
Colin, who was a graduate of Michigan State University, may be the only alum of the school who doesn't follow its sports teams. While Colin would be OK with you shedding a tear over his death, the best way to honor him is to do something kind in his memory. Tell someone you love them, help out a friend or neighbor, and make sure your child knows how proud you are of him or her. He'd also want you to go play outside.
Colin is survived by his parents, Michael and Patricia Brougham; brother, Justin; wife, Rachel; and son, Thomas. He was very loved and will forever be missed.
Visitation with family and friends took place at 10 a.m. on Monday, April 16, 2018, followed by a service at 11 a.m. at First Memorial Funeral Chapel, 4343 Nicollet Avenue, Minneapolis, Minn. In lieu of flowers, a college fund will be set up for Thom Brougham.

My deepest condolences to your family during this most difficult time. There are no words that can ease the pain of losing someone so beloved. May you find comfort and peace in knowing that your loved one is in God's memory, because those who pass on are precious in his eyes. - Psalms 116:15.

Dear Rachel,
We were so saddened to hear about Colin's passing. We often play cards with your parents and have heard so many wonderful things about your family and how very proud they are of all of you. They have shared pictures and anecdotes through the years and we have enjoyed seeing Thomas grow up. Please know that you all are in our prayers. Sincerely, Phil and Jean Tayntor
