John E. Hanson, 79, of the City of Manistee went home to be with his Saviour on Sunday, September 19, 2021 at Munson Healthcare Cadillac Hospital.
He was born August 26, 1942, to Edward E. Hanson and Anna (Quarnstrom) Hanson in Manistee, Michigan. He went to Shelton College in Cape May, New Jersey, where he met his wife, Lillian Hanson. They were married on September 14, 1968.
John spent his life enjoying music! He was a self-taught pianist and also learned many other instruments. He led many church choirs and was the pianist for many churches throughout the years. He was a piano teacher for most of his life and started the Music House in Manistee for teaching piano, guitar and strings and also holding the annual Carol Sing at the Music House. John touched the lives of so many people with his kindness, love of music, great stories, and most importantly, his love for the Lord!
John is survived by: his wife, Lillian Hanson; his son, Jonathan (Kristy) Hanson; his daughter Deborah (Adam) Knutson; and grandchildren, Elijah Knutson, Eliana Knutson, Matthew Hanson, Elizabeth Hanson and Benjamin Hanson.
John was preceded in death by: his mother, Anna Hanson; his father, Edward Hanson; and his son, David Hanson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 16, 2021, at Calvary Baptist Church in Eastlake. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in Manistee.
The Terwilliger Funeral Home, in Kaleva, is in charge of arrangements.

I´m saddened at the news I just learned of Mr. Hansen´s passing . He was my eldest sons violin teacher . He was more then a strings teacher . He was a kind soul that myself and my family thought of John as a close friend as well as his wife Lillian . God rest his soul and my condolences to the Hanson family .
