MANISTEE -- Patrick Q. Cusack, 98, of Manistee, formerly Hubbardston, passed peacefully at home with his family by his side on Nov. 6, 2018.
Patrick was born in Hubbardston on March 20, 1920, where he lived on the family farm for 94 years of his life. He was one of 14 children of Helen O'Connell and Charles Cusack.
Patrick married Agnes V. McGrath on Sept. 13, 1952 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Hancock. Their marriage produced 10 Children, 23 Grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; Virginia (Scott) Pelton, Caitlin ((Finley)) and Conor Pelton; Kevin (Meg) Cusack, Jacob, Rachael (Joe) Ringenberg ((Lux, Joan Bea, Alma)), Joanie (Cale) Erickson, Leighton, Alex, Wilson (Hannah) ((Asher, Ru)) and Peter; Tim (Anne) Cusack, Isabel, and Malcolm; Paul (Lana) Cusack, Molly, Colin and Sara; Rosie Cusack; Rita Cusack, Sinead and Declan, McCann; Ted (Amanda) Cusack, Matthew, Joshua and Samuel; Martin (Elise) Cusack, Quintin, Aidan, Gabriel and Fiona.
Daughter Ann Marie Cusack and son Dan (Eve) Cusack preceded him in death. He has one living sibling Dorothy McGrath of Houston, Texas. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, McKenna, O'Connell relatives and faithful companion Lucky.
Patrick was committed to his Catholic faith. He was a life member of Knights of Columbus and Elks.
Patrick was a farmer, real estate agent and insurance salesman. He was proud of his Irish heritage visiting Ireland twice including a visit to the original Cusack Homestead. Patrick was many things including Reader (reading a whole book a day), artist -- taking classes into his 80s -- wood worker specializing in wood dowels and glue, an original re-purposer of wood and furniture creating many furniture treasures, golfer, hunter, storyteller, dancer, skier both cross country and downhill, inventor developing a sand sifting machine and selling sand bags from his property.
He was known for his love of sweets, especially pie and chocolate. Patrick loved Native American lore and supported Tribal Reservation Schools. Agnes and Patrick traveled the country in their motor home after her retirement. They also loved cruises travelling all over the world making friends wherever they went.
Prior to his 90th birthday he had been known as Quint, but to avoid any confusion at the Pearly Gates he has gone as Patrick in his later years.
Family is thankful to Patricks' wonderful care-givers, Sara, Candy, Judy and Teresa.

To The Cusack Clan,
I was saddened to read of Quint's passing. He lived a full long life and for that we should all be grateful. My favorite memory of him was when we would run into him at the Ionia Meijer. He always had a joke, a smile and a friendly pat on the back. And Agnes, you would just shake your head and smile. He was lucky to have such a close-knit family. I will keep you in my thoughts during the coming days.
