Rose Marie T. Showalter, age 88, of Manistee, Michigan, passed away peacefully on November 4, 2025, with her family by her side. She was born on November 20, 1936, in Manistee, Michigan the daughter of the late Anthony J. & Isabelle (Szuszetzky) Edel. She was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School. On June 22, 1963, Rose Marie married Harvey E. Showalter, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee. They shared 50 years together before his passing on July 20, 2013.She was employed as a bank teller for many years, starting with Manistee Bank & Trust and retiring from PNC Bank. Rose Marie was a lifelong and devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, assisting and arranging funeral luncheons where she took great pride in creating beautiful table decorations. She loved flowers, gardening, and spending time outdoors caring for her yard, places where her creativity and love of nature always shined. Rose Marie loved to dance and travel to Cedar, MI to hear Mollie B and dance the polka. In 1954, Rose Marie competed for the Manistee's Labor Day Queen title and was chosen as a member of the Queen's court. She also cherished the five Yorkshire Terriers she mastered during her lifetime, especially her last Yorkie, Toto, a faithful and loyal companion. She is survived by her loving daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Todd Gayan of Rockford, Michigan; three cherished grandchildren, Elizabeth (Chris) Pimentel, Grant (Courtney) Gayan, and Weston Gayan; and three great grandchildren; two nieces, Holly (Luke) Ellis and Polly (Brian) Didway. She was also preceded in death by her twin sister, Mary Ann Zuchowski and several sister and brother in-laws. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, November 13, 2025, at 11:00 A.M. at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Manistee with Father James Bearss celebrant. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until time of Mass. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers at the Grand Traverse Pavilions, for their tremendous passion, dedication, and care that Rose Marie received. They were truly angels during this difficult time. Memorials in Rose Marie's name may be directed to Mount Carmel Cemetery Endowment Fund or Homeward Bound Animal Shelter of Manistee.
