Sally Ruth (Mackin) Palsrok went to be with the Lord on February 5th, 2025. She was born to Lawrence Edward Mackin and Margaret Elaine (Gilliam) Mackin on July 6th, 1945, at their family home, the McAlvay House on 8th Street in Manistee. She was a descendant of some of the earliest settlers of Manistee County.
Sally was a 1963 graduate of Manistee High School where she was a proud member of the Manistee High School Ski Team and was one of the first females to earn a varsity letter in skiing. On August 29th, 1963, she married her husband of 61 years, Edward Wesley Palsrok, in Manistee, MI where they raised their four sons. She demonstrated a deep and profound love for her entire family and attended hundreds of sporting events to support their children and grandchildren.
In 1989, the family moved to Vicksburg, MI and after raising her children, Sally returned to her own educational pursuits, earning a bachelor's degree in social work from Western Michigan University. Upon graduation, she dedicated her professional life to the service of others.
Sally spent 12 years with Michiana Addictions and Prevention Services in St. Joseph County, MI. Through her persistence and determination, she opened the Hope Resource Center for women and children. A center dedicated to offering a safe home for women recovering from alcohol and drug addictions.
In 2005, Edward and Sally returned to Manistee, where she continued her service to others as a probation officer for the Manistee Probate Court, Juvenile Division where she focused her work on rehabilitating troubled youth. Her goal was to instill hope and the belief that one can always turn their life around and achieve their dreams if they believe in themselves.
Sally was a member of the Mason County Reformed Church. She is survived by her husband Edward Wesley Palsrok, her children, Rocky Palsrok (Kelli Burke), Jeff Palsrok (Jen Schepel), David Palsrok and Daniel Palsrok (Alona Leonardo), her sister Kathy (Mackin) Tulloch, her brother Phil Mackin, 17 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and 12 nephews and nieces.
Sally was also preceded in death by her brother Lawrence "Mack" Mackin, her sister Jacqueline "Jackie" Jordon, her brother-in-law Dave Jordan, her sister-in-law Sue Mackin and her niece Colleen Tulloch.
Visitation will be held at Grove Oak Funeral Home in Manistee at 10am on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, with the Celebration of Life and Fellowship immediately following at 11am (same location).
