Edward Hoffmann Obituary

Edward Jacob Hoffmann

Edward J Hoffmann, 79, died peacefully, March 12th, at his home in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

Born March 7, 1942 in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the son of the late Gustav and Louise Hoffmann.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Becky, his daughter and son-in- law, Robyn and Mike Petras, and granddaughter, Summer Petras. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Renee and son, Ryan.

Ed retired from General Motors in Mansfield after 36 years where he enjoyed working in the Tool and Die Design Department. His passion for hobbies included traveling, skiing, photography, racquetball, golf, and singing with The Fun Center Chordsman for 33 years.

Ed was a member of the First Christian Church in Mansfield where he served in many positions. There he helped initiate the monthly Saturday community free breakfast. He was a member of the Mansfield Liederkranz for over 50 years, celebrating his German roots. He and his wife participated in the Parkinson's support group in Mansfield, OH. After moving to live near his daughter and family, Ed joined the David's United Church of Christ in Canal Winchester.

Living with Parkinson's Disease for 13 years did not impede his positive attitude and kindness for all people.

A memorial celebration will be announced at a later date due to Covid safety.

Ed, was one HECK of a guy! He had a heart of gold, and just as big. He would give you his last dime, if you needed it. Heaven for-sure has a new angel with our "GOD" for all eternity.

I have known Ed since childhood, he and my father both worked at GM in Ontario, Ohio (back then know as "Body by Fisher") they use to "ride share" with one another. We lived across the street from his home and parents on Gibson Ave. My Mom has told me that Ed at one time was their local "paper boy". Ed was a nice person and a very hansom man and it's sad to see he's gone. May you rest in peace Ed Hoffman, you deserve it. Hope you see my father in heaven . . . I'm sure the two of you have a lot of catching up to do. Sorry Becky, you are loved.

Becky and Family, Andy and I remember you so well from the days you boarded your dog with us. So many years ago. You are the kindest two people we have ever met. I am so sorry about Ed's passing. Becky and Andy Zoll, Bellvilke, Oh
