James Sgambellone Obituary
formerly of Mansfield - James J. Sgambellone, 63, formerly of Mansfield, passed away July 16, 2021 at University Hospital Bedford Medical Center.
Jim was born January 29, 1958 in Mansfield to Anthony and Gisele Hammang Sgambellone. He was valedictorian of his 1976 graduating class at St. Peter's High School and then went on to obtain a Bachelor's of Science Degree at The Ohio State University. Jim continued to pursue his law degree at Akron University and finished his education obtaining a Masters of Law at the University of Florida. He was a corporate tax attorney for Sherwin Williams, Harry & David of Oregon, and MSC of New York retiring in 2016 to spend more time with his family. Jim was always doing something, whether it was reading, beating people at Scrabble or being more active biking, practicing his karate which he had a brown belt in, or competing in a triathlon. He was a huge supporter of education and even served on the school board in Lucas before moving to Carrollton. No matter what Jim did, his family always came first and he was helping or supporting them in any way he could.
Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years Linda Lerch Sgambellone of Carrollton; children Anthony (Katie) Sgambellone of Cincinnati, Mark (Paula) Sgambellone of Hudson, David (Jackie) Sgambellone of Maryland, Nicole (Patrick) Kelleher of Carrollton; grandchildren Kayla & Lydia Sgambellone, Vincent & Annarye Sgambellone, Max, Maddie & Lucy Sgambellone, James, Sean, Eibhlin and Ciara Kelleher; brother John (Ronda) Sgambellone; sister Nancy Sgambellone; many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his father Anthony and a brother Gary Sgambellone.
Friends may call at Herlihy Funeral Home, 173 Park Avenue West on Wednesday from 4-6pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:00am Thursday at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Burial will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter's School.
