Susan M. Segelken

ASHLAND: Susan M. Segelken, 82, of Ashland, passed away Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011 at Hospice of North Central Ohio.

She was born in Cleveland, Ohio February 9, 1929 to the late Harold H. "Tony" and Lois (Bartels) Moore. Following her high school graduation she received her Bachelor Degree in Journalism from Ohio Wesleyan University and her Master Degree in Journalism from Ohio State University.

Susan moved to Ashland in 1967 from Chardon, Ohio. She became an Adjunct Faculty Member at Ashland College teaching in the Radio and Television Department. When she was not teaching at Ashland College, she was teaching children with learning disabilities.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield, Ohio. She was a member of the Tempus Study Club, Ashland Mothers Club and the Book Review Club. Her hobbies included knitting and weaving.

On July 13, 1957 she married Warren G. Segelken who preceded her in death on June 14, 2010.

She is survived by her children, Edward "Ned" (Marquell) Segelken of Gahanna, OH., John (Caroline) Segelken of Canal Winchester, OH., Ann (Donald) Stump of Ashland, OH; and six grandchildren, Betsy Segelken, Abby Segelken, Jack Segelken, Emily Stump, Andrew Stump and Jacob Stump.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Grace Episcopal Church in Mansfield with the Rev. Joe Ashby officiating. Friends may call on Monday, November 14, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home. Burial will be in the South Cemetery in Gates Mills, Ohio at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Episcopal Church, 41 Bowman Street, Mansfield, Ohio 44903. For those not able to attend, online condolences may be made to the family by using the funeral home website www.dpkfh.com
