1935 - 2025
MARBLEHEAD - Kenneth Stuart MacAskill, age 90, of Marblehead passed away peacefully on Monday November 24, 2025. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Spellman MacAskill in 2015 after sharing 58 great years of marriage.
Born on January 29, 1935 at Franklin Street Mary Alley Hospital, he was the son of the late Kenneth Bodwell MacAskill and Rebecca Blaney MacAskill. He was raised in Marblehead and graduated from Marblehead High School with the class of 1953. He also graduated from the Bentley School of Accounting and finance in 1955. He served in the US Coast Guard from 1955 to 1957 after which he was employed as a cost accountant for United Shoe in Beverly, MA.
In 1959 he moved to East Rockaway New York where he was the controller of TPT Communications in Queens, NY and served as the President of the East Rockaway Kiwanis Club in 1968 before returning to New England in 1970. He then was self employed in Sales for over 28 years until his retirement in 1998.
Ken enjoyed summers and winters in Shapleigh, Maine on Square Pond for over 30 years. He served as President and Treasurer of the Mousam Valley Snowmobile Club and the Square Pond Improvement Association there. He also served as the Treasurer for the Marblehead Citizens for Fiscal Responsibility.
Ken was also a 32nd Degree Mason of the Philanthropic Lodge in Marblehead, Scottish Rite, Valley of Salem, Scottish Rite Valley of Boston Consistory. He was also a member of the Gerry 5 in Marblehead and the Elks Lodge in Gloucester.
Ken enjoyed trips to Aruba, Myrtle Beach, Florida, Alaska, Las Vegas and occasional trips to Foxwoods with his wife, playing pool at the Gerry, cribbage at the Senior Center and poker anytime.
He enjoyed Marblehead High School and Football Games from 1971 until his passing.
Ken was the devoted and loving father of Kenneth "Scott" MacAskill and his wife Cindee of Alameda, California and Susan MacAskill Thompson and her husband, Paul of Queen Creek, Arizona, the dear brother of Jean MacAskill of Marblehead; and the cherished grandfather of Madelyn and Caitlyn MacAskill of Alameda. He is also survived by his companion Susan Gray of Marblehead and many nieces and nephews.
Service Information: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 4th, from 5 :00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Eustis & Cornell of Marblehead, 142 Elm Street. Ken's Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m at Eustis & Cornell. Burial will follow at Waterside Cemetery. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ken's name may be made to Marblehead High School Athletics, the Gerry 5 Veteran Fireman's Association or the Philanthropic Lodge of Marblehead.
