Brendan Dunnigan Obituary

Brendan Joseph Dunnigan 6/16/1980-11/24/2017 It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of our beloved son Brendan on November 24th. Brendan was buried at Fernwood Cemetery at a private family service on December 1st. He is survived by his mother and father Kay and Joe Dunnigan, his sisters, Kendall Dunnigan, her husband Dave Henson and nephew Kelsey, Lauren Dunnigan, her husband Scott Petersmeyer and his nieces Madisen and Peyton, his brother Ryan Dunnigan, his wife Amy and his niece Faeryn and nephew Kael. His family was the center of his life. Brendan went to Marin Catholic High School where he met his lifetime best friends and USF Business School where he graduated with honors. Brendan's generosity and commitment to others served him well in his job as an Employment Counselor at Larkin Street Youth. His strong commitment was evidenced by the full day of work he put in the day before he passed. In lieu of flowers, we welcome a donation to Larkin Street to educate and seek employment for homeless young adults so they may obtain a new start. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held at the Sausalito Yacht Club, 100 Humboldt Ave. on January 28th at 2:30 pm and we welcome all who knew and loved Brendan to attend.

Dunnigan Family- my contact w/Brendan was through our work together @ the Branson Volleyball & Basketball games for some 8 or more years; Brendan ran the clock & scoreboard & I did the announcing. Brendan always had a smile on his face & was quit w/a quip, joke or anecdote; we shared many laughs 2gether during the scores of games that we worked. Brendan was also fond of talking about his family, especially when he learned that I'd coached against Lauren when she was playing basketball @ Branson. Once Brendan found out that I'm an M.C. alum, we had another avenue to share stories & memories. Brendan would always arrive @ the games (either @ Branson or C.O.M.) before I did; but, as soon as I entered the gym, Brendan would give me a hearty greeting & immediately ask me about my family & inquire as to how we were all doing. Brendan was 1 of those rare individuals that we don't often meet in a lifetime, he was 100% genuine & ALWAYS made you feel that he truly cared about you. He will be GREATLY missed! I will keep Brendan & your family in my prayers.

Brendan was a wonderful presence in the neighborhood. When he was younger he helped us lifting, moving, babysitting. I would often see him doing the same for other neighbors as I walked down the street. Years later ,I ran into him when he was working at the San Rafael recreation center. He told me he was planning to go to law school one day. He was so nice and friendly and adult for such a young man. I will always remember him driving by in his Jeep Cherokee and waving at me as I would hike down the street. I am sorry that it was a short life, but Brendan will be remembered as the loving and sweet soul that he is..

Mrs. and Mr. Dunnigan:

May your son enter eternal life with the Father. Son and Holy Spirit and through Christ and our Blessed Mother, you may find consolation from the pain of losing your son. I will ask Monsignor Sheeran of Marin Catholic and the Marin Catholic family to pray for your son at upcoming Masses.
