His parents, John and Hattie Pepper, owned the General Store in Bolinas for many years. He attended Marin Academy in San Rafael and later majored in social work at San Francisco State. In his early career he worked with autistic children and subsequently worked at various group homes. He spent his later years at Edgewood Center for Children and Families, where his time was devoted to counseling and advocating for juvenile probation and at risk youth. He also provided support and advocacy to relative caregivers in Edgewood's Kinship program. Claude will be remembered for making a difference in the countless lives he touched on a daily basis. He had many interests including an eclectic taste in music and the arts, good food and watching the History channel. Claude was an avid animal lover, with dogs being his greatest passion. His canine companion, Blitz, was faithfully by his side for many years. He is survived by his loving partner of nine years, Sandy Coddington, and numerous friends and family members who will greatly miss him.
