Jean Bennett Downs

Jean Bennett Downs Died in San Francisco, on January 31st, 2006, at age 78. A fifth-generation San Franciscan. Daughter of the late Dudley W. Bennett, M.D., and the late Frances Ryan Bennett. Survived by her husband of 50 years, Jerome F. Downs of San Francisco and son Andrew B. Downs of San Rafael and daughter Joan Downs Krostenko of South Bend, Indiana, daughter-in-law Christine Downs and son-in-law Brian Krostenko and four granddaughters. Graduate of Miss Burke's School, San Francisco, California, B.A., University of California, Berkeley, Delta Gamma. Former President League of Women Voters of Southern Marin; Former Chair, Board of Trustees, Mill Valley Public Library; Honorary President The National Society of Colonial Dames resident in the State of California, former Regent, Gunston Hall Plantation, Mason's Neck, Virginia. Member, Century Club of California, former member, Town and Country Club. Friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass 10:00 AM, Monday, February 6, 2006 at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption, 1111 Gough Street, San Francisco, CA. Interment will be private.
