Johanna de Iongh Obituary

Johanna Jean "Jody" de Iongh Died peacefully at her home in San Rafael from leukemia on December 8, 2012. Jody and her twin Lita were born on February 16, 1957 in San Francisco. She graduated from Marin Catholic and the hotel and restaurant program at City College of San Francisco. Jody was a fantastic cake decorator - discovering her talent while at Just Desserts bakery in the 80's. She pioneered the use of fresh flowers in wedding cakes and designed and produced three dimensional cake representations of San Francisco monuments. In later years she applied her artistry to special cakes for her nieces and nephews, their school, and dear friends. Her talents included flower arranging, cooking and baking, sewing and spoiling children. She regularly won prizes for her Halloween and Christmas decorations - she hosted fantastic Halloween parties. She was an attentive caregiver for her parents and others. Jody is survived by her father; her siblings; her beloved nieces and nephews: Jason, Kyle, Corey, Madeline, Jameson, Isabella, Cyrus and Alex; her black cat, Coal; and many friends. No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations to children's toy programs are suggested.

I have fond memories of taking the train to Santa Barbara with Jody and Lita. We stayed at the UCSB and just had a blast!

I didn't know Jody had died. I just found out tonight... Two years later. I am so sorry, Lita. Jody was always so full of love and could make anyone laugh, even if they were having a bad day. Although I haven't seen either of you in many years, I've thought of you both often. You're in my thoughts and prayers.
Sincerely,

Kathleen Hansell

Missing you Jody!

January 9, 2013

Don't think of her as gone away, her journey's just begun. Life holds so many facets, this earth is only one. Just think of her as resting, away from the pain, in a place of warmth and
comfort, where there are no days or years. Think how she must be wishing, that we could know today, how nothing but our sadness, can really pass away. And think of her as living, in the hearts of those she touched. For nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much.

Jody meant so much to this family. Loving sister, devoted daughter caring for her parents and the best Aunt one could imagine. I became part of this family through my love and marriage to her sister Bailey. I will always remember the wedding cake she made for our wedding. She had us look through her portfolio and we commented on many of the incredible things she had done then selected a choice few for our cake. She flew to Seattle with all the incredients, tools and fresh flowers working all night (literally). When we saw the cake the morning of the wedding, she had included all of the things we had admired. While I am biased, it was the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen and made the happiest day of my life all the more special.
Thank you Jodi. I will miss you.

We'll miss laughing with you in the kitchen, seeing the new decorations on the house as we round the corner, your pictures, and so much more.

But we won't forget these because they are a part of us.
