I was John's administrative assistance from 1981 until he retired. His trust and support throughout our working relationship carried on after his retirement. He would call often to ensure my family and I are doing well. He would reach out around December of every year to set a luncheon date to celebrate the holidays. He was genuine, kind, intelligent, honest, caring but never perfected the use of a stapler. It's a private joke we have for one another whenever he needs to staple something.
I miss all his war stories, but my special one to this day is still how he met Margaret. Oftentimes, he would tell me the same stories over and over, but I was never tired of hearing them.
I do miss our time together; especially around the holidays. I am extremely fortunate that John was a part of my life and I will always cherish those years. Although I miss John and Margaret, I am at peace knowing they are together and still watching over me.

Uncle Shearer was a great man with many stories that he enjoyed telling us. We were lucky to spend the last few years of his life learning as much as we could about our family and history. A man that served his country and family proud, truly missed.

I had the wonderful privilege of meeting John Jamieson in February of 1982 in San Francisco, when John was in need of a junior assistant to transfer from Minneapolis. At first, John, while almost as charming as Margaret, could be somewhat intimidating. However, I soon learned that John, while certainly demanding, was always fair and reasonable. More importantly, John was an excellent teacher, as well as most generous. And, oh, how John enjoyed a good hearty laugh, while slapping his hand on something. I was fortunate and blessed to stay in contact with John throughout his retirement years, including a trip we made to Pensacola just a few years back so that we could visit the flight museum. John was a big part of my life and I will always miss my true friend.

We're sorry to hear about John, he sure was a true gentleman. We lived in Larkspur for 22 years and been in the Board with him. When Margaret passed, he came to visit us twice at our home in El Dorado Hills Ca. and I sat down with him on the computer and showed him how it works and told him that now that Margaret is gone, he should get himself a computer now that he has the time. He called me after a month and said he bought the whole shebang ! and emailed me for the first time. He was so thrilled I got him started. We stayed up till 12:00 a. m. just showing him how things works . Me and my husband sure enjoyed our friendship with both John and Margaret. We have photos of them dining at our house in Larkspur. He will be missed. i wondered why we didn't hear from him for the last two years. Our neighbors have told us that he was having 24 hour care. We will miss him. May he rest in peace.

A dear friend of 9 years, I shall miss him greatly as will my whole family. He was very proud of having passed all the requirements at Pensacola, Florida's Naval Air Station. He called it, "Pensacola - the pinnacle of the U.S. Navy's aviation training!"
