KARIN SOLOMON Obituary

Karin Lazar Solomon Oct. 5, 1940 Mar. 28, 2011 Karin Lazar Solomon died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family after a 3 1/2 year battle with cancer. Karin was born in San Francisco to Siegbert and Lisa Lazar. She was raised in Kentfield and graduated from Drake HS and UC Berkeley. Karin and John (Jake) Solomon met on a blind date which led to a 48 year marriage. Karin's interests included arts, photography, music, literature and design. Her deep generosity and devotion to others led to hundreds of friendships. Karin loved to travel with her devoted husband throughout the world but especially Lake Tahoe where they spent many summers. She entertained several careers, as a researcher at the CDC, docent at the Boyd Museum in San Rafael, photographer, optician, and interior designer, for which her creativity and her eye for color and perspective made her a natural. Most of all, Karin enjoyed time with her family. Karin is survived by her husband Jake, sister Tanya Lazar, sons David (Denise) and Daniel (Terri), and grandchildren Lucas, Rachel, Nathan, Lauren and Mia. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Hospice By The Bay, or Friends of the Marin County Free Library.

I am deeply saddened to lean that Karin has passed away. As a part of her distant and extended family I feel sad that we have not spend enough time getting to know each other as extended family and as individuals. In a short time that I had to be with her I have come to know her as a loving, caring and creative person who loved and enjoyed life. I keep in my memory visits to her home in San Rafael, meeting her children and her loving husband. Aunt Karin will be in my memory as a loving and caring person, a kind of person that was always a comfort to be around with. I will always remember my visits to Lake Tahoe and me talking to her about our family past. May her memory be forever blessed, and may she live on forever in the memory of friends, children and grandchildren.

Dear Jake and Family: I was deeply saddened to hear of my good friend, Karin's passing. She has been a friend of mine for decades at Tahoe and we were students at CAL together. Our children are the same age and Karin and I had much in common--most of which was Tahoe. I will miss seeing her at the cabin and will keep all of you in my prayers. Lynette Green
